In 1981, I left my native belgium to join the man i loved in Vertus, In Champagne. I had no idea that 10 years later, the responsability of running one of the greatest champagne houses would become mine, the foreigner. In the exclusive world of champagne, often accused of being conservative, the story of Carol Duval-Leroy proves that it is possible to make a different voice heard. When her husband diad in 1991, she became the president of one of the most wonderful family-owned champagne houses. Carol had no experience, but she was determined to transmit this precious heritage to their children. In just a few years, she would succeed in carving a place for herself in a worl of sustainable development principles. After having succeeded in imposing the Duval-Leroy brand on the world's best restaurants, in 2007 she would become the first woman predisent of the prestigious Association Viticole Champenoise.
