Exit Ghost

'Consistently enthralling... full of tart humour and dancing intelligence' - Literary Review From the Pulitzer Prize-winning author, the moving final appearance of tragicomic hero Nathan Zuckerman. Nathan Zuckerman returns, incontinent and impotent, to a changed New York after eleven years away. Walking the streets, he connects with a young couple who will explode his carefully protected solitude. Allured by the woman, Jamie, Zuckerman rashly offers to swap homes with them, and so begins his return to a life he thought was over: one of intimacy, and the play of heart and body. Suddenly involved, as he neither wanted nor intended to be again, with love, with mourning, with desire and animosity, Zuckerman’s last act is an interior drama of vivid and poignant possibilities.
