## Description

Amongst the earliest police memoirs This volume, an enlarged version from its first appearance in 1860, is a collection of true-crime stories. Written by Thomas Waters, aka William Russell, a detective inspector in London, the stories are based on real events. From run-ins with gamblers, through burglaries and missing persons to counterfeiting, Waters has seen it all.
