Electric Ride

For fans of Free Ride and The Long Way Round , this is one man’s account of how losing the map can help you find your own direction. What happens when you stop planning and start riding? When Marc Engel set off on his electric motorbike, Eve, with a broken heart, no fixed route and no idea where he would end up, the result was a journey that was anything but ordinary. From crumbling border crossings in Eastern Europe to quiet mountain roads in Southeast Asia , Electric Ride is a love letter to the art of getting lost – and to the people and places found along the way. Blending vivid storytelling with hard-earned lessons , Marc shares what months on the road around the world taught him about freedom, failure and the unexpected beauty of imperfection. Each chapter is both an adventure story and a takeaway: how to navigate breakdowns, bad weather and questionable decisions – and why those moments often become the best parts of the ride. This alternative travel memoir is perfect for fans of motorbikes, cross country travelling or anyone with itchy boots, desperate for a bit of wanderlust. Honest and reflective, this is not a handbook for perfect travel. It’s a guide to the real thing: unpredictable, humbling and utterly alive .
