Clive Cussler’s Cold Fire

When a NATO super-weapon capable of securing peace - or triggering global catastrophe - vanishes in the Arctic, NUMA’s Kurt Austin and Joe Zavala are pulled into a race against time. After a US C-17 successfully tests a devastating new laser by destroying a ballistic missile, the aircraft vanishes without trace over the polar ice. Evidence points to a hijacked plane, its crew murdered at their stations, and a shallow crash site in the freezing Arctic Ocean. As rival Russian and Chinese powers close in to find the missing weapon, international rules of engagement are perilously suspended. But as Kurt and his team race to reach the wreck first, a darker mystery emerges: the world’s great powers are all being carefully manipulated by one vengeful man with a deadly plan . . .
